VACCINATIONS FOR TRAVEL TO INDIA — OUCH, THAT HURTS!

Preparing for a trip to India means first getting a round or two of vaccinations.
I had to get one Hepatitis A and two Hepatitis B shots. (I have to return a third time for the final Hep-B injection in six months to a year.) And there were also needles for Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis and Polio combined and Typhoid.
I got to skip the Mumps and Rubella shot, namely because of my age (50, the last time I checked) and the fact that I’d already had Measles.
There are also anti-malaria pills to take, starting one day before the trip, daily throughout the trip and for a week upon my return.
All together, the shots and pills cost about $200. Ouch!
The funny thing is that when I went to my health-care provider to get partially reimbursed, the secretary asked to see my plane ticket to prove I was traveling.
I asked why that was necessary … who except someone traveling would go get a bunch of shots for the fun of it!
She admitted that I had a point.
